Joint issue is one of the major concerns in front of individuals having age between 40-65 years. Wear and tear of the joint is common as it bears major weight. Hence, it is essential to manage pain and related complications through Ayurveda treatments. Sthanik Basti is an effective treatment in alleviating and relieving pain. Warm oil, herbal medicinal extracts or powders present in potali’s stimulates, strengthens, rejuvenates, and nourishes the body. Along with this, soothing massage of herbal products and therapeutics present in bags exfoliates the skin and stimulates pores and improves skin tone.
Shiro means head and Basti means container that holding liquids. Shirobasti means warm herbal oil holding oil on the head for a specific period of time with use of cap fitted on the head in such a way that oil does not leak out.
The outer area of head is covered by a leather cap keeping hollow inside. Warm herbal oil is put into the hollow for a certain period in such a way that oil should not be leaked out. It is followed by Shiro abhyanga (head massage). Course of Shirobasti treatment varies as per requirement. But generally, 1 week to 4 weeks are sufficient depending on conditions and complications of ailment.
1. Vata: 50 to 60 minutes
2. Pitta: 40 minutes
3. Kapha: 30 minutes
A nurturing head and neck massage (Shiro abhyanga) use warm oil to de stress and relax. This treatment helps improve dryness and hair loss while calming the nervous system and strengthening the mind. It leaves the feeling revitalized.

HRUD BASTI – NURTURING HEART TREATMENT
Hrud Basti in Sanskrit refers to Hridhay, the heart and Basti, the container or
retainer.
A dough container is placed over the heart area & the medicated warm herbal oil preparation or freshly prepared herbal decoction or medicated ghee is poured over the heart region for about 30 minutes – 1 Hour. At the end of the procedure a gentle massage is done on the heart region.
1.The intensive application of oil to one area mobilises deep seated emotional toxins and promotes their elimination thus creates internal balance and peace within.
2. Pacifies aggravated Vata dosha in the chest region.
3. Nourishes and Strengthens the cardiac muscles; thus, rejuvenate the heart.

5. Relieves deep seated repressed stress, anger and grief.

BENEFITS OF HRUD BASTI
The term Janu Basti is derived from- Janu- which means Knee joint and Basti which
means to hold.
1. Knee joint is one of major weight bearing joints where wear and tear is very
common.
2.The most common ailment is dryness of the knee joint.
Janu- which means Knee joint, & Basti is the compartment used for holding. This compartment in the form of a pool is made from flour of black gram. The warm herbal medicated oil is poured on the flour pool placed on the knee for about 30 to 45 minutes. The legs are massaged before doing the Janu Basti and after that steam is given.
1. Reduces pain, stiffness, and inflammation in the knee.
2. Increases blood circulation in the area of knee joints.
3. Increases lubrication of the joint & improves mobility and flexibility.
4. Rejuvenate the knee joint & makes the knee joints stronger.

It is a procedure in which comfortably warm medicated oil is kept over the lumbosacral area or any adjacent part for a certain period of time with the help of a specially formed frame ring prepared from black gram powder. Its uniform temperature is maintained throughout the process by replacing warm oil in Kati Basti Pool. The oil is kept for 30-40 minutes.
1. Relieves Pain, swelling and inflammation, stiffness.
2. Soothes the nerves supplying the low back and legs (lower limbs).
3. Enhances blood supply to the low back area.
4. Strengthens the low back (bones, muscles and soft tissues therein).

In this process specially prepared warm medicated oil is kept over the neck with herbal paste boundary.
An enclosed wall is made from black gram flour and herbal powders is placed across the nape (back of the neck). Warm medicated oil is placed up on the neck inside the herbal paste boundary. Temperature is maintained uniform throughout the procedure This process is carried out for 30 minutes.
